The “Cinque Terre” represents one of the major natural beauties of Italy.
From 1998 these beauties are recognized and under protection of the UNESCO as worldwide patrimony of the humanity.
They are established by five villages of the provinces of "La Spezia", "Monterosso", "Vernazza", "Coniglia", "Manarola" e "Riomaggiore", which appear on the sea a part of the "Liguria" East wind coast characterized by the promontory of “Punta Mesco”, the west, and of “Capo di Montero”, the east.
In the past the villages were only reachable by the sea or by foot, through a sequence of paths and communication trenches across the hill country. Today these paths establish a strong tourist attraction, thanks to the natural scene in which are assessed in big part between the courses of the CAI.
The railway and the roads built afterwards allow today reaching them more comfortable and easier.
With exception of “Monterosso”, the “Cinque Terre” kept their antique characteristics, that means an urban development represented by a maze of alleys in human measure, the “caruggi”, ascending roads when didn’t exist cars.
This particular, the absence of traffic, the reduced range of the villages, the beauty of the hill country around, the pureness of the sea on which is mirroring the country, and the local gastronomy gives to the “Cinque Terre” a magic and charm to render as a unique place in the world. |
