It’s very easy to reach “Riomaggiore” by car. Landmark is the city “La Spezia. From “Genova”, “Torino” and the North-West of Italy, you have to follow the highway number A 12 in direction of "Livorno". From “Milano” you follow the highway A 1 in direction of Bologna and up to “Parma”, where you turn to “La Spezia” direction. From "Bergamot" and "Breccias" is suggested to take the A 21 “Brescia-Piacenza” up to “Fiorenzuola d’Arda", then follow the A 1 in direction of “Parma” and then follow the A 15 for “La Spezia”. Who is coming from “Triveneto” can choose between two solutions; from “Verona”, “Vicenza”, “Trento” and “Bolzano” follow the highway “Brennero-Modena” and once arrived on the A 1 follow in direction to “Parma” and following later on the highway A 15 up to “La Spezia”. From “Treviso”, “Udine”, “Trieste”, “Venezia”, “Padova” and “Rovigo” take the highway A 13 “Padova-Bologna” and then the A 1 up to “Parma” to follow then the highway A 15 up to “La Spezia”. From the Adriatic dorsal follow the highway A 14 in direction of “Bologna”, then the highway A 1 up to “Parma” then follow the highway A 15 up to “La Spezia”. From “Livorno” and “Pisa” take the highway A 12 in direction of “Genova”. From “Firenze” take the highway A 11 “Firenze-Mare” up to “Viareggio”, then follow in direction to “Genova” up to “La Spezia”. From “Roma” and other locations of the south of Italy follow the highway up to “Firenze” and then follow as the “people from Firenze do". In any case once arrived at “La Spezia” cross the city and follow all the indications in direction of 5 Terre (“Cinque Terre”) and “Portovenere”. Arriving to a cross where the road will be divided for the two directions "Cinque Terre" and "Portovenere" please take the road for "Cinque Terre". “Riomaggiore” centre has a traffic-limited area (Zona a traffico limitato = ZTL) that means a pedestrian “island”. Once arrived you should have a look for the car parking of your car. The only car parking structure (big capacity of car parking and to pay extra) you will find when the ZTL begins. The car parking has two possibilities of parking; one is covered car parking and the other opened car parking. The advantage of the opened car parking is, that during the night hours (22:00 to 08:00) these parking places are free. The second advantage is that you have free access to your car and parking place during the night if you need to move. The covered car parking is closed during these hours. Then you have also the possibility to leave the car outside of the village along the road arriving to “Riomaggiore”, this naturally after leaving your luggage and personal things where access is allowed to the village. Note that in high season the car parking has still capacities but it is not unlimited, so we suggest to book the car parking first you arrive by calling the management of the car parking under the number +39 328-1749842, in this case you can ask also for the prices.
There is present also a transfer service inside the village of “Riomaggiore”. If your destination inside of the village is farer away from the car parking, you can use this transfer service (extra pay). But in any case we will be present at the moment of your arrival to receive you and help you for your check in and car parking and transfer if necessary. |

“Riomaggiore” is the first railway station from the rail “La Spezia” to “Genova”. In any case we suggest for all departure destinations to take the high-speed trains up to “La Spezia”, there you can change comfortable to a local train, which brings you to the railway station of “Riomaggiore”. There is a local navigation company which is equipped by a considerable fleet of ferries, which connect all the internal "Cinque Terre" either "La Spezia", "Lerici", "Portovenere", island of "Elba", island of "Capraia" and "Portofino". These ferries are used in the mayor cases for tourism excursions, but are also useful as an alternate to the traditional travel possibilities like the railway or the highway. The use of the ferries is particular suggested for who has hand luggage or for who has not much time and wants to visit as much destinations possible in less time. Note that the ferry connections depend on the meteorological situation of the area and the sea that means during the wintertime you rarely will find the connections active.
